Cheery Spring Colors

This is a gift I made for a pen pal in Finland. It is made from Noro Silk Garden yarn and has a antique, scribed mother-of-pearl button for a clasp. I found a few of these buttons in irridescent shades of lilac and wine hues a couple of years ago at a notions shop. I have a few of them yet, as I hoard them while waiting for the perfect project on which to use them.

I love these cheerful colors, rather like pansies and johnny-jump-ups in the Spring sunshine. The yarn is silk and mohair; when knitted, the texture is soft and nubby with curled silk threads that work their way out of the ply. Always I enjoy working with silk.

The little purse, opened:

And more colors on the back!

And now it is ready to be mailed!
